WILMINGTON, NC - Hofstra and UNCW came into Seahawk Soccer stadium Sunday afternoon looking for their first CAA win this season and UNCW took home the win.

UNCW was looking for their first CAA win of the season Sunday Afternoon as it had not went their way the first two CAA games of the season. The first came in a tie against The College of Charleston and then enduring a 2-1 loss against Northeastern Friday night at home. Hofstra was in the same boat as they had lost their first three CAA matches with the last one coming against The College of Charleston. UNCW came out the one on top and continuing Hofstra’s woes.

UNCW came out running the gate early. The first goal came with only one minute and 51 seconds into by Senior Kennedy Ulrich and this marked her first goal of the season. The second goal a little later with 25:31 left in the second half and this one made it look easy to score against Hofstra. This goal was made by Junior Brittany Cline and this marked her first goal of the season as well. New success was building in the Seahawk Soccer Stadium.

The score was 3-1 at halftime after another goal was cored at 17:33 left in the first half. Hofstra’s only goal came off a foul kick that came off of a foul that supposedly made by one of the Seahawk players. This was the only way Hofstra got on the board the entire game. Hofstra made scoring attempts, but UNCW’s goalkeeper made the players to keep them off the scoring business. A fourth and final goal came at 27:15 left in the fourth.

Hofstra led the overall series 12-4-2 prior to this matchup and this matchup did not exemplify what happened for the most part in the past. UNCW defied these odds and added another win to their win column o make it 12-5-2.

The Women’s Soccer team at UNCW will next play on Wednesday, October 7th in Delaware. The team will next play at home against William & Mary on Wednesday, October 21st at 7pm.
